Hello guys!!!!

Today, I'm going to talk about Greek culture, specifically of the Greek gods.

                               Culture

The world of the ancient Greeks was full of deities: nymphs inhabited valleys and streams, nereids lived in the depths of the sea and satyrs lived walking through the forests. There were titans, imprisoned in the depths of the Earth, winged harpies and sirens ... It was very difficult to control, or even tell, this abundance of gods, but the Greeks believed that they were all subordinate to Zeus, the supreme god, and their close relatives, who lived with him on Olympus.

According to the Greeks, the gods inhabited the top of Mount Olympus, Greece mountain main Former. This site, commanded the work and social and political relations of human beings. The Greek gods were immortal, but possessed characteristics of human beings.

In ancient Greece, the personality of each god came from various sources. There were the local cults, with their specific rituals and exclusive places; the divine name of the gods, who had several possible explanations; stories and poems that people shared with each other; and paintings and sculptures representing the gods, particularly sheltered cult statues in temples. The Greeks agreed, in which twelve supreme gods lived on Mount Olympus together, though not always in agreement about what were these twelve gods. The Greek gods that I cite below, are those in the frieze of the Parthenon:
·        Zeus is the supreme ruler of the universe, son of Cronus and Rhea, grandson of Gaia and Uranus (Earth and Sky).
·       Hera is daughter of Cronus and Rhea, sister and wife of Zeus.
·     Ares is the only one of Zeus and Hera, and represents the war in that she has more violent and senseless.
·       Deméter, sister of Zeus and Hera, is the goddess of agriculture.
·       Dionísio is the son of Zeus with the mortal Semele, he is the god of wine and ecstasy, including   the collective madness and orgiastic sex.
·     Hermes is the son of Zeus with the minor goddess Maia. He is the god of borders and border crossing, protector of thieves and the interpreters, and escort of souls who travel to Hades.
·     Athena is the daughter of Zeus. She is the goddess of war, military tactics and discipline; also oversaw peaceful activities, in particular the work of women onto the spindle and on the loom.
·       Hefesto is the son of Hera and has no father. He is the god of the forge and of crafts.
·       Poseidon is the son of Cronus and Rhea, is god of the seas and oceans.
·       Apollo is the son of Zeus and the goddess Leto, as well as the twin brother of Artemis. He is the god of the Sun, music, poetry, medicine and intellectual search.
·        Artemis is the daughter of Zeus and the goddess Leto, Apollo's twin sister. She is goddess of the  hunt and moon.
·        Aphrodite is the goddess of love and sex, especially sex with women.

That's it guys, I hope you like it!!
A big hug,
Heloysa Veloso Fernandes.
